Privacy Policy

Fermentarium (“we”, “the app”) is a personal home-fermentation logbook for tracking recipes, batches, and tastings. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It’s short, and we don’t sell your data.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address when you register.
- Content you create — recipes, batches, measurements, tasting notes, reviews, cellar and pantry entries, notebook notes, and anything else you enter.
- Device readings — if you connect a hydrometer (iSpindel/Tilt), the gravity, temperature, and battery values it reports.
- Technical data — your IP address, used only for security and rate-limiting (for anonymous tasting reviews we store a one-way hash of it, never the address itself); your time zone, detected in your browser to show times correctly; and one essential cookie that keeps you signed in.
- Voice linking (optional) — if you link the Alexa skill, we receive an identifier for your Alexa account so we can read your brews back to you. You can unlink it any time in the Alexa app.
How we use it
Only to run the service: to store and show you your log, let you share what you choose, and keep the app secure. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use it for third-party marketing.
What’s visible to others
Most of your data is private to you. Some things are visible only when you choose: recipes, batches, and tasting pages you mark public (or share by link) can be seen by anyone with the link; items you share with a guild or a friend are visible to those people. Published tasting reviews show the reviewer name you enter, but never your email.
Who we share it with
We use a few providers to run the app: hosting on servers in the EU; web fonts served from a privacy-focused CDN (no tracking cookies); and Amazon Alexa, only if you link the skill and only to answer your voice requests. We don’t share your data with anyone else except where required by law.
Where it’s stored and how long
Your data is stored on servers in the EU and kept while your account is active. The app uses soft-deletion and an activity log so you can recover from mistakes; ask us to erase data permanently or to close your account, and we will.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data — just contact us. If you’re in the EU/EEA, the GDPR gives you these rights and the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
Fermentarium is about alcoholic fermentation and isn’t intended for anyone under the legal drinking age in their country.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
